Weekends at Home

K has had a busy two weeks at Vacation Care - doing lots of arts and crafts, seeing the Beauty and the Beast stage show, visiting an animal farm, playing soccer. On our weekends we haven't ventured too far, and have stayed home mostly to chill and get a few things done.

Last weekend K found some 'spooky recipes' and was keen to give them a go. We mashed potato, cheese and flour and made...

 A Yetti's Foot - can't you tell?
K of course had one bite. At least we had fun making it.
Daddy and K mixed flour, water and newspaper to do some paper mache. They made a ...

 Pig - can't you tell?
We went to the park with our scooter and bike - and were disappointed the circular track has half disappeared for some sort of renovations. Riding in a semi circle and then turning around, is just not fun.

K has always enjoyed running - when the park equipment no longer holds her interest, a plain old jog proves just as fun.

A few weeks ago I bought a few things from a toy sale and put them in the cupboard. Over the holidays, I told K she could have a surprise if she read me 10 books. Her 10 books were read in under a week and I pulled out of the cupboard, what I thought was a craft set where you make pretend 'sweets'. As it turned out, it was a little set with icing and sprinkles to make 'real sweets'. K was most impressed.

We used the cutters to cut out shapes from bread - some shapes were the size of a thumb nail, and others, the size of a pinkie nail.
K invited her customers one by one, to come to her shop and order their custom made treat,

K displayed her treats on the little shop stand that came with the set.
Then proceeded to eat them (though Mum may have declared that she was part owner in the shop, therefore shared in the taste testing).
They are only little, they are only little - I kept reminding myself.
We will go for a bike ride tomorrow - maybe after some more mini treats :-)
