A Wonky View

The Strawberry Tree

After K's picture of a strawberry tree this week, I realised that although we have talked many times about what cows, pigs and sheep are farmed for, we have never really had a discussion about growing fruits or vegetables.

With K's big Sis visiting for Father's Day, we hatched a plan to find some fruit trees.
We visited the Wonky Windmill Eco Farm for a picnic lunch. Their website said you could pick fruit in season. I was hoping we were 'in season' enough for there to be fruit on the trees.

We fed some babies first. This was the first time K had fed milk to a lamb.

We met some cute characters.

We got up close and personal.

There were oranges and mandarins on some trees. We headed off to find the ripest and juiciest fruit we could lay our secateurs on.

We looked at some blossoms on the trees and talked about the blossoms turning into fruit.

We explored the play equipment. The cubby house had everything a budding chef would need.

K took some photos.

The farm was very quiet. The large tables were great for our picnic and there was plenty of lawn to kick the footy. We will continue to talk about which fruit grows on trees, and work on the fruits which grow on vines, plants and under the ground soon.
